So first up is a few tips on how to plan your special event…

Decide on your budget. Throwing an engagement party is a fun and joyous occasion but if you can’t afford a huge celebration then keep it small. Once you have narrowed down your budget guidlines ten you will find it alot easier to start looking at location/food and decorations etc.

Choose your venue location. If you’re keeping the celebration small then a back garden party would be great in the summer time. Other great places to look are local function rooms or even cocktail bars. Your venue will also help to decide on your colours/theme.

Add personal touches such as photographs of you as a couple and fun quizzes about each other. You could even do a signature drink for each of you!

Don’t invite people who you know won’t be invited to the wedding! That would be one very awkward conversation when it comes time to hand out the Save the Dates…

We have two different theme ideas for you today – both of which are beautiful and great for an engagement party!

The first one we have is tiki inspired. If you’re having a smaller celebration then hosting your engagement party at home (or your parents home) would be a great cost saving. A tiki inspired garden party would be fun, fresh and look beautiful – what more could you ask for? Oh and a BBQ would be a great idea for the food!

We have fallen head over heels for these stunning tropical decorations – the vibrant colours and flowers will make sure your engagement party is one to remember. You could even use our colourful Hebe wedding invitation and simply adjust the wording!

Another way you could go is classic, chic and modern. We’re envisioning a rooftop/cocktail bar – very Sex in the City!

Keep the decorations minimal and chic by using white, fresh greens and gold or copper. For food we would suggest canapés or a light buffet and a signature cocktail would really add a personal touch.

To match an engagement party invitation we would suggest our Lavinia wedding invitation. Mounted onto two layers of gold board this invite is chic and contemporary. You could even gloss foil your invitations with your initials or an engagement ring symbol!

I hope this blog has given you some ideas on how to theme your own engagement party and a few tips on how to conduct one!
