If we could give you one piece of wedding stationery advice? Don’t forget to send your wedding thank you cards! Now, the tough part – how do you write them? It may seem like a simple task but many brides and grooms get confused about what you should say to be polite for each type of gift you may or may not have been given. So below we have some top tips and advice for you!

1. They gave you money

If a guest has given you money be sure to not mention the exact amount but do describe how you plan to use the cash. For example…

Dear Auntie Jane and Uncle Simon,
Daniel and I were thrilled with your generous and thoughtful gift. We will put it towards our honeymoon and be sure to think of you when we are sipping Mojitos in Hawaii. Looking forward to seeing you again when we’re home!
Love,
Sarah and Daniel

2. They purchased something from your registry

If a guest has directly purchased somethigng from your registry gift list then be sure to mention the exact item (make notes when opening presents)

Dear Margaret,
Thank you so much for the wonderful photo frames. Daniel and I have been looking at them for awhile and now we have some fabulous wedding pictures to put in them! We’re so happy you were able to make it to the wedding and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Love,
Sarah and Daniel

3. They have given you something hideous that you can’t return

If you are abit unlucky and recieve a gift that is rather hideous looking and you can’t return it then definetely DO NOT mention how much you hate it *obviously* but don’t rave about how much you love it either.

Dear Grandma,
Thank you so much for the china crockery. The color reminds me of the china we used for family dinners at your house, and I’m so happy to see it again! We hope you had a lovely time at the wedding and can’t wait to pop over and see you again soon!
Love,
Sarah and Daniel

4. You recieved a gift from a group of friends

Some guests choose to club together and purchase one large gift so make sure you give a big shout out to the whole group but also send individual wedding thank you cards.

Dear Josh and Maddie,
Thank you for the new BBQ grill – we’re so lucky to have friends that know us so well. Daniel really loves how hi-tech it is and we can’t wait to have everyone round for some of his famous BBQ ribs!
Love,
Sarah and Daniel

5. They didn’t give you a gift

Not every guest attending can afford to give a gift however you should 100% still send them a wedding thank you card thanking them for their attendance on the day.

Dear Michelle,
Thank you so much for attending our wedding celebrations. It was lovely to have you there with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon after our honeymoon!
Love,
Sarah and Daniel
