How To Create Stunning Seasonal Wedding Themes

For 2017 wedding stationery trends we are loving seasonal wedding themes. Matching your wedding stationery to your wedding day’s associated season is a really great way to incorporate a variety of colours. Every season has a very individual look, all of which make beautiful wedding colour themes. All you need to do is take inspiration from the colours in nature, seasonal flowers and even the weather! Here in the UK it may seem like it’s winter for a good 6 months of the year and then autumn for the rest but we do have four seasons. Yes, some countries actually get a full three months of summer sunshine!

Seasonal Wedding Themes

Choosing a theme or colour for your big day can be quite tricky. The rise and popularity of places like Instagram and Pinterest mean that there is SO much inspiration out there – where do you even start? Of course in this blog we’re going to show you how picking seasonal wedding themes could be a great option for you…

Spring Weddings – March, April & May

In the springtime we see new buds blooming, new life being born and a subtle hint of sunshine just peeking through the clouds. There may still be a slight chill in the air but the emergence of delicate flowers such as daffodils and tulips makes it all worth while. The Spring months are mostly still classified as out of peak wedding season for venues and photographers etc. (May can sometimes be included in peak time). This of course means that most suppliers will have more flexibility with dates and may even charge you slightly less, if you’re lucky. As less people book their weddings in Spring you will also more likely have the majority of your guests attend. Planning a wedding in July sounds great until you realise half your guests already have a million other weddings to attend that month, not to mention holidays and other commitments. Symbols of Spring include; New born lambs, bunny rabbits, chicks and of course Easter. When looking at spring for seasonal wedding themes and colours we naturally lean towards soft pastel tones; baby pink, mint green, buttercup yellow etc. This colour palette is beautiful for not just your spring wedding invitations but also pretty pastel bridesmaid dresses, your wedding cake and of course the bouquet.

Bride Janet got married last spring “We got married on Easter Saturday, so our theme was really easy and kind of already picked for us. We went with Easter bunnies and chocolate mini eggs. Our look was achieved with the Ivy Ellen bunnies invites, a wedding cake decorated with mini eggs and a cake topper made especially to look like rabbits. We also filled clear plastic bunnies with mini eggs as our wedding favours. Our colour scheme was shades of lilac, purple and green, very spring like.”

In December of 2016 Teresa and Steve vowed to spend their lives together on a gorgeous winter wedding day in front of their closest family and friends. The ceremony and reception were held at the stunning venue of Stirrups Country House Hotel in Berkshire. A beautiful winter wedding day with a navy blue and silver colour theme. Today we have Teresa with us and she is letting us in some top wedding day tips plus some lovely pictures of the bride and groom…

Who proposed? How did they propose?

Steve proposed – he arranged a surprise holiday for my 40th Birthday to New York. He was planning to propose on a helicopter ride he had planned but it got postponed due to snow. He couldn’t delay the proposal as he had booked a personal shopper in Tiffany’s for that afternoon so he asked me walking through Central Park. I obviously said yes and we went to choose the ring which we then collected that afternoon. He then asked me again that evening at the top of the Empire State Building to which I said yes very quickly as it was freezing and I couldn’t wait to wear the ring.

Husbands and Wives across the world have all kinds of secrets to a healthy and happy marriage – and we want to find them out!  Today we have asked not only a few real life brides from the fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll Wives facebook forum but also my lovely Grandma who has been married to my Grandad for nearly 60 years!

bride and groom kiss

My Grandma, Yvonne

The secret to a happy marriage is about give and take. You can’t expect the world from eachother, nobody is perfect. John and I have had our ups and downs over the years but we never once gave up. We sat down, talked about the issue and decided what was best, together. We have also always put eachother first, when John needed to move for work there was no doubt in my mind that I would follow. He is my rock, always has been and always will be.

Seychelles

We have to admit we became obsessed with this place when Kat from Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride ventured there earlier this year! If you’re looking for a laid-back, picturesque vacation then this should be top of your honeymoon destinations 2017 list! Seychelles is pretty much what we imagine paradise might look like – the beach is sublimely soft, the waters are crystal clear, and all the resorts on the islands are to die for. Your first job is to decide which of their stunning private islands to stay on – most of which are lush in wilderness, sandy beaches and romace in abundance. All luxury hotels on the Seychelles will offer you and your spouse the chance to dine alone in a romantic spot around their property!

We won’t lie – Seychelles can be expensive but looks SO worth it! Read the rest of this entry »

Wedding Shows

In 2016 we exhibited at 7 wedding shows, our record so far! Including the fabulous National Wedding Show at London Olympia. This year we decided to exhibit at more local shows than ever before and have absolutely loved it! Our local shows started off with a bang in January at The Charmandean Centre in Worthing, West Sussex. We loved meeting local brides and grooms, other suppliers and working with the wonderful Stylish Events Wedding Fayre team. Throughout the year we then attended shows at The Amex and Goring Hall before September arrived. This is when the show season really begins and we become very busy little bees! The National Wedding Show is well worth visiting, we enjoyed our stay up in London and thought the show went absolutely brilliantly! We then finished the year off with 3 more local shows including The Amex, The Charmandean and Crawley K2.

Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding shoes from Sex and the City

The majority of women cannot deny that this particular shoe should be top of the iconic wedding accessories list! Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolos Blahniks from the Sex and the City movie are truly stunning. You can still buy them today as originals from Manolos or of course many companies do a cheaper but similar style version!

Background info: Carrie and Big’s huge city wedding is called off after Big is a no show, however at the end of the movie Carrie and Big see eachother again. What It’s Like To Be Considered A Plus Size Bride

December 14th, 2016 by Ivy Ellen Tags: , ,

Hi everyone – it’s Sussex Bride here! Today is a very personal post that I felt although very sensitive, needed sharing. I’d like to talk with you about what it’s like to be considered as a plus size bride. Many of you might find this subject a little sensitive or awkward but I really want to draw attention to those three little words – plus size bride.

sussexbride

As you know I got married a little over a month ago now on the 5th November, it was an amazing day and I couldn’t have wished for a better husband to share it with. We took about a year to plan the wedding and in that time I felt an unbearable pressure to lose weight for the big day. In every wedding magazine going there were lists of what to do for the wedding – and nearly all of them included starting a fitness regime. Why? Why should marrying the person you love come hand in hand with dieting? Surely they love you as you are?
