Less than 2 weeks to go until the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations which will, for us, mark the beginning of the wedding season! We cant think of a better occasion to celebrate all that sparkles, and couldn’t resist sharing this wonderful photo of Queen Elizabeth II herself wearing the beautiful ‘heirlooms of the crown’.
The Girls of Great Britain & Ireland Tiara was a wedding present bought from Garrard the London Jewellers, and given to Queen Mary in 1893. In 1947 Queen Elizabeth II was given the tiara as a wedding present from Mary.
The coronation necklace features 25 large diamonds plus the Lahore diamond, a detachable 22.48 carat stone!
Whilst most of us will have to do without a diamond tiara there are some less extravagant ways to include a nod to the diamond jubilee during this summers weddings…
Many of our wedding invitations for instance are finished with authentic Austrian Swarovski elements. Diamonds they aren’t but elegant and beautiful they most certainly are and they add a wonderful opulent finish to your wedding stationery. Here is a lovely example of our Vintage Garden range which uses 24 hand placed crystals to accent the delicate vintage design:
Swarovski have a rich heritage and history of their own and their business began in 1895, just 2 years after Queen Mary was given that amazing tiara!
If sparkling crystals aren’t your cup of tea, our Vina wedding invites also have a certain regal feel to them with a traditional pattern printed onto a beautiful pearlescent ivory board and hot foiled metallic text.
