Real Life Weddings: Louise & Nick

August 27th, 2012 by Lewis Posted in Real Life Weddings | No Comments »

Nick & Louise married on 7th July, both their ceremony and reception were held at the exquisite Rookery Manor in Somerset. They chose our Butterfly Love stationery in Turquoise. Louise recalls to Ivy Ellen the moment Nick proposed:

Wedding Invitations

Nick & I first met at a local club near close to where we lived with our parents, we were friends for a year or so, then we got together as boyfriend and girlfriend in 2006 and have been together happily ever since. Nick’s proposal came as a complete shock as we had always discussed it but I never thought it would actually happen to me!! On 28th December 2010 Nick took me to Cardiff shopping for the day and we stayed out for a night at the Celtic Manor, unbeknownst to me after I had got ready for our meal in the Olive Tree restaurant he said he wanted to ask me something and proposed there and then and caught me totally unawares, I didn’t even say yes straight away as I was a blubbering mess!! He never got down on one knee like tradition but he didn’t have too, his proposal will stay with me forever as a very happy & memorable day in my life!!

Did you have a look or theme in mind for your wedding day?

For our wedding theme we chose a Shabby Chic/Vintage style incorporating Butterflies & the Bridesmaid dress colour which was Turquoise.

Who were your top 3 wedding suppliers that helped make your day special?

Love Lily
Emma & her team at Love Lily florist, Abergavenny were amazing! Our floral arrangements were breath-taking and she really gave our wedding the WOW factor. The bridal party bouquets were gorgeous, so gorgeous I have had mine dried out to keep. Her knowledge & ability were second to none and we wouldn’t have any doubt of recommending Love Lily in the future.

Photography Moments
Symon Purnell at Photography moments was a great choice for us, we both knew Symon beforehand so this made life a whole lot less nerve – wracking!, however we needn’t have worried as Symon knew exactly what he wanted to achieve, was full of enthusiasm and made us both feel really comfortable in front of the camera. He got some amazing shots out of both Nick & I at a pre-wedding photo shoot, so we knew we had chosen well. Looking back over our wedding photos now I feel like it was all a dream, they are what every Brides photo album should be ….PERFECT and Nick & I will probably reminisce with these for the rest of our days!!

Ltd Edition
We booked a live band for our evening reception; they were called Ltd Edition, we booked this particular band after seeing them play at a family wedding last November, they were a 5-piece band, who were game for a laugh and really made the party atmosphere! A fun & friendly group of girls/guys worth looking up and at reasonable price too!

What top tip would you give to brides whilst planning their wedding/on their wedding day?

We had 18 months to plan our wedding and I started straight away, any ideas that came into my head I would write down. Choosing a theme/colour earlier on in to the planning makes things a whole lot easier too! I am also quite an organised person, so I made a bible which had lists and details of every last detail of the wedding, it’s also a nice touch to send out To-Do lists to Bride & Grooms party etc., as things run a lot smoother with both parties knowing what they have to do on the day and it’s a great keepsake for them afterwards!

Also having booked our wedding for July I got myself pretty stressed out about the weather and in the end although it did rain on our wedding day it didn’t ruin it, besides it is more difficult to untie a wet knot!! So I would say don’t stress about the weather it is something you cannot plan or change just go with it!

Were you happy with your wedding stationery?

Yes our wedding stationery was everything we had dreamt of and more, as we wanted quite a WOW factor wedding we wanted everything to match and the Ivy Ellen Butterfly Love range certainly did that for us especially the table plan in the gorgeous cream shabby chic style frame. We had so many lovely comments from family and friends. We would not hesitate to recommend Ivy Ellen to any of our friends and family.
