Husbands and Wives across the world have all kinds of secrets to a healthy and happy marriage – and we want to find them out!  Today we have asked not only a few real life brides from the fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll Wives facebook forum but also my lovely Grandma who has been married to my Grandad for nearly 60 years!

The secret to a happy marriage is about give and take. You can’t expect the world from eachother, nobody is perfect. John and I have had our ups and downs over the years but we never once gave up. We sat down, talked about the issue and decided what was best, together. We have also always put eachother first, when John needed to move for work there was no doubt in my mind that I would follow. He is my rock, always has been and always will be.

I may have only been married for over two months but I have been with Liam for over 7 years now so I hope that some advice I have might be useful! My number one rule is to not hold onto anger or resentment. Over 7 years we have had our fair share of arguments but if you continue to hold anger against eachother then you’ll never be able to move on and just be happy in your marriage. My other rule is to make eachother laugh – always. Liam and I have a pretty goofy sense of humour and not a day goes by when we don’t have fun together.

Chloe Scott -  Always make time for each other. Whether its a date night, DVD on the sofa, favourite dinner, or even just a long cuddle at the end of the day. Its so easy to get wrapped up with life that you forget to make time and to keep connected.

Sarah Mitchell-McCabe -  Have things you do apart and things you do together. Spend time with each other as well as by yourself or with friends & family – you don’t need to spend every second of your lives together & it gives you something to talk about.

Lauren McKenna Being able to step back and let the little things go! Be mindful of your partner always. If it doesn’t come naturally, train your brain to constantly think about things you can do to make life easier and more happy for your partner.
