Today we welcome Nisha from Little Cedars Bakehouse – creator of stunning wedding cakes! I met Nishi whilst exhibitng at the National Wedding Show back in February. It was safe to say I was pretty amazed by the wonderful creations that Nisha was displaying. The traditional boring cakes are a thing of the past, these new modern, chic and stunning wedding cakes are in and hopefully here to stay!
A little about Nishi and Little Cedars Bakehouse: “It was all a mere coincidence when I was gifted my first cake mixer for Christmas. My hobby to bake became so addictive, I couldn’t stop. All my efforts to perfect my recipes was only the beginning. Every cake is a canvas that I can express my creativity and individuality. My favourite ingredients are a combination of a perfect colour pallette and finishing it off with just the right accessories.”
“Choose from our unique selection of wedding cakes and our cake flavour menu to create your perfect wedding cake. Alternatively, we can create a personalised design just for you.”
So without further ado here are a few tips and answers from Nisha about her wonderful wedding cakes…
What is your favourite wedding cake that you have ever created?
It is a buttercream wedding cake with some beautiful embroidery work on it. It’s quite a simple design but it does take quite some time to create it. It will take a long time to create this even as just a small 6 inch cake. What I really like about this one is the beautiful effect it has, it may only be one colour but it is very visually appealing.
What trends are you starting to see for 2017 weddings?
People are really loving marble cakes as well as lots of florals. We are getting asked about colours a lot for the actual wedding cake.
What are the most popular flavours that you get requested?
Chocolate cake is the most popular, it always has been. Chocolate orange and Red velvet are also very popular, it is a bit of a twist on the classic. Everyone likes chocolate cake!
What inspires your stunning wedding cakes and other creations?
Absolutely everything from jewellery and flowers to colour palettes I see. To be honest anything that I see that jumps out at me like textile prints even.
What top tip would you give to brides and grooms when looking for a wedding cake?
Probably they should choose the flavour to their own taste, many people think too much about their guests and not about themselves. At the end of the day it is their wedding and their wedding cake!
