Hello again! I hope you’re all enjoying these little wedding planning snippets! This week I have been looking at bridesmaid dresses and thinking about the wedding decoration details!
As far as bridesmaid dresses go I’m not very traditional – I want my girls to feel happy and comfortable in what they’re wearing and not spend fortunes on a dress they’ll never wear again! So we started looking at different highstreet retailers and discussing what look I had envisioned for the day. Seeing as our overall theme is vintage floral with navy blues, ideally I’d like to go down that route but am generally happy for them to try most things. As a bride on a budget we had to have the money discission – a must before any bridesmaid shopping trips to avoid any awkward till encounters. Once all that was discussed and we had pinned a dozen dresses on Pinterest we have a plan in place to hit the shops together next weekend!
You decided the budget when you first started planning and it was a good amount…until you found that perfect designer wedding dress. Goodbye budget and goodbye carefree planning! Now is the time to knuckle down and think about where you can cut back on money, this way you can keep the dress and not feel too bad about it! Creating an entirely free wedding day may be near impossible but sourcing a couple of things isn’t too hard when you put your mind to it…I give you 5 great examples of ways you can provide wedding necessities…TOTALLY FREE!
1. Flowers – We all know that flowers are a big expense for the wedding day. Having bouquets, centre pieces and such can cost a real fortune and when you’re on a budget there are definitely ways to cut down! Why not pick flowers and herbs for your table centre pieces, arrange them nicely in a jam jar or borrow vases from friends and family! You can pick your flowers from fields or you can spend a few pennies and grown your own – be sure to check whether the field is public or private though – we don’t want an angry farmer chasing you for your posies!
This years Brides the Show presented their new and improved Imagination Room – where Brides and their friends could go and learn from the professionals how to D.I.Y everything from invitations to wedding cake! It proved to be a huge success and everyone had a great time learning how to create parts of their wedding day for a fraction of the price. Ivy Ellen had a lovely little space on the Saturday afternoon named “Show Stopping Stationery” – with full seats our designer Jo got to work!
We chose to show all you beautiful brides-to-be how to D.I.Y several our items, saving you vital pennies for the big day. First up was our all new Mini Bunting – providing each bride with a sheet of bunting to cut out and thread through onto their choice of twine or ribbon. This look works great for vintage/festival style weddings, you can hang them from the tables or backs of chairs for a great decoration. The best bit is that each of our designs has its own mini bunting range so that you can match your look right the way through from your Save the Dates to your bunting! Although you can’t view it on the website just yet, if you like a design and would like to enquire about bunting please just drop us a line!
