Ivy Ellen Wedding Invitations & Wedding Stationery

Welcome to our wedding invitations website and thank you for considering Ivy Ellen for your wedding stationery. There are a huge number of variables to consider when choosing your wedding stationery, so we’ve done our best to try and simplify the process and make it easy for you:

Things to consider when choosing your wedding stationery

Your Wedding Theme

Some couples like to have a theme for their wedding but there’s no obligation! If you are trying to decide on a theme however, think about personal styles that you love and reflect you as a couple. You might start with stylistic influences from the clothes you wear, or how you decorate your home, or from a meaningful trip or adventure you have taken together. For example - learning to dance might inspire a love of the twenties and an art deco theme, or a move to the country might inspire a country garden style for your wedding. Once you have a theme in mind it helps to narrow down your wedding stationery choices. We cater for lots of themes as well as offering a variety of bespoke options for our stationery.

Your Wedding Colours

If you have one, to some extent your wedding theme will inform the colour palette you choose your wedding stationery colours from. For example, a vintage or country themed wedding will often have pastel colours and floral prints. Don’t worry if you don’t have a theme in mind or are choosing not to have a theme. Have a think about the colours you like and what combination you would like to appear in your wedding. Check out our Great Combinations blog post which may help you narrow your choices down. Classic wedding colours are white, ivory and pinks.

Your Wedding Stationery Budget

Magazines typically recommend 3 to 4% of your wedding budget be allocated to wedding stationery, which will include your invites and all of your on the day items like orders of service, table plans, menus, etc. We have a range of prices: from cheap wedding invitations starting at £1.20 through to luxury wedding invitations that cost over £5. You can also save money on our site by choosing DIY wedding stationery options.

Your wedding venue and location

Consider how your stationery will fit with your venue. An obvious example would be choosing beach coloured or themed invitations for a beach wedding, but with any venue, try to tie-in the look and feel of your stationery. You might consider a rustic, wood style invite with a barn venue for instance. Or a flowery invite for a garden wedding. A vintage look can work really well with a marquee. Some wedding venues will provide certain wedding stationery items like menus as part of their package. It’s worth checking with your venue if this is the case as it can save you money, although be aware that the style will obviously be different to your main stationery.

Your partner

Consider how much your partner likes to be involved in your colour schemes and wedding stationery choices. It can be a nice way to connect in the planning of your wedding, although it’s not for everyone.

Trust your instinct

It is essential that you love your wedding stationery! It is your big day after all. Trust your instincts. If you don’t like the designs, keep looking until you find some that you do like. As much as we would love to make your wedding stationery for you, it’s more important to us that you choose us because you love our designs and they are what you want rather than just making do.

What items of wedding stationery you need

The bare essentials are: Wedding Invitations, Menus and Order of Service. There are a load of other items you can add. ‘Before the day’ items include: save the dates, rsvp cards, and evening invites. Other ‘On the Day’ stationery includes: place cards, table numbers, table plan, wedding bunting and favour boxes. Finally, thank you cards are also a must after the day as they are a really special way of thanking your guests for their gifts and for coming to your wedding.
